Been contacted by GCFDC with confirmation of acceptance
into the program, as well as information relating
to the start date, time & location of the Business
Plan Development Workshop Session.
The Business Plan
Development Workshop Sessionis an eight-week
entrepreneurial training program that will provide you
with an intensive orientation in business planning and
management. The training is delivered using interactive
instruction, group discussion, case studies, practical
exercises and occasional guest speakers. As a Program
Participant, you will take part in training, Monday
through Thursday mornings for eight weeks. Outside of
training time, you will conduct independent research
and complete your business plan.
Upon completion of the workshop session, you will submit
your business plan to our Small
Business Consultant for review and consideration.
Our Small Business Consultant will present recommendations
for approval or decline of your business plan to the
Self-Employment Benefit Review Committee of our volunteer
Board of Directors. This Committee will make your Program
approval or decline decision based upon their assessment
of the validity of your business idea, job creation
impact, level of competition, your ability to secure
sufficient financing to start and operate the business,
your management skills / experience and potential, your
demonstrated commitment, the ability of the business
to generate enough revenue for you to become self-sufficient
and the business to become self-sustainable following
the expiration of the SEB Program. Our Small Business
Consultant will notify you of the results of the Committee's
decision.
Should your business plan be approved, you will proceed
with the Program and your business start-up.
Employment Ontario will confirm your continued income support for up to
32 more weeks while you start-up and operate your business.
Our Small Business Consultant will arrange regular monitoring,
counseling and reporting sessions with you during the
start-up phase of your business. You will be required
to provide monthly income statements and reports on
the status of your business to our Small Business Consultant
throughout the period of income support.
If you are confident that you can complete a business
plan that is acceptable to GCFDC and Employment
Ontario without
the benefit of participating in the eight-week Business
Plan Development Workshop Session, contact the SEB Administrator
to discuss your options.
