are receiving Employment Insurance (El) benefits
or
have had an El claim during the past three years
or
have received maternity or parental leave benefits
during the past five years,
you may be eligible to be considered for the SEB Program.
In addition to being unemployed and meeting one of
the eligibility criteria listed above, you must also
satisfy all of the following requirements:
You must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Your proposed business must be NEW, FULL TIME, and
OWNER OPERATED
Your proposed business must be approved for public
support
Your proposed business must be neither seasonal
nor commissions-based
You must have the required equity to invest in the
business for start-up and
You must not have registered the business at the
time of application.
Employment Ontario will make the final determination of your eligibility
and the applicable income support benefits.
If you are confident that you meet the eligibility
criteria and all requirements and you are interested
in pursuing the Program further, contact the SEB
Administrator to register for a Program Orientation
Session.
